Crispy Buffalo Cauliflower Wings

Updated: Jul 30, 2020

This is the typical fate of the cauliflower in our fridge. We love making cauliflower wings and pairing it with a homemade vegan ranch! These wings are suuuuper crispy and have a bold buffalo flavor. And they actually reheat very well for the next day's lunch or a mid-day snack!

Buffalo Cauliflower Wings

Prep Time 30 min. Cook Time 20 min. Serves 4-6

  • 1 medium cauliflower head

  • ½ cup almond milk

  • ¾ cup buffalo sauce

  • ¾ cup flour (use gf, if needed)

  • ½ tspn onion powder

  • ½ tspn garlic powder

  • 1 cup panko breadcrumbs, vegan

  • ½ - ¾ cup vegetable oil (or any preferred high heat oil)

  • S+P to taste

1. Begin by chopping your cauliflower head into small florets (keep long stems if possible to resemble chicken wings!). Set aside.

2. In a medium sized bowl, whisk together flour, milk, buffalo sauce, and onion & garlic powder until smooth. Set batter aside.

3. Measure out breadcrumbs and place into a medium sized bowl.

4. Grab a large plate. Begin assembling your cauliflower wings by submerging into batter one at a time, tapping off excess batter so they aren’t dripping, then immediately placing into the breadcrumbs and rolling on each side to fully coat. Place wing onto the clean plate. Continue until all wings are coated and breaded.

5. In a large pan, heat about ¼ cup oil, or enough to coat the entire bottom of the pan, to medium heat. Make sure the oil is hot by sprinkling breadcrumbs or water to see if they sizzle and fry.

6. Assemble another large plate with a paper towel and set aside.

7. Add your first round of cauliflower wings, and fry wings for about 2 to 3 minutes on each side, until golden and crispy. Place the cooked wings onto the plate with the paper towel.

8. Add more oil to the pan if needed, and fry your second round. Depending on how big your cauliflower is, you should have 2-3 rounds of wings.

9. When all wings are cooked, serve with additional buffalo sauce or favorite dipping sauce!

* Keep in the fridge for up to 4 days. To reheat, place in a toaster oven or oven on 400°F for about 6-8 minutes, or until wings are heated through and sizzling!
